さて、本記事ではカンボジアを代表するビーチ、 シアヌークビル について書いて行こうかと思います。と言うのも、シアヌークビルで検索すると綺麗なビーチの写真に「注目のアジアンリゾート！」な〜んて書かれているんですが…

「ちょっと待った！」と声を大にして言いたいのですよw僕は2003年に初めてシアヌークビルを訪れてから、その後もちょこちょこと彼の地を訪れていました。そして2017年にカンボジア駐在時に再訪して唖然…した経験があるのです。

と言うことで、シアヌークビルの昔と現状をお伝えして行きます！

On this post, I’m going to write about “ Sihanoukville ” the famous beach in Cambodia. When I Google Sihanoukville, what I find is beautiful white sand beach, and written “Popular Asian resort!” (by Google JP)…

I would like to shout “Hang on a sec!“. My first visit in Sihanoukville was back in 2003, and since then I visited there few times. In 2017, I was working and living in Cambodia and re-visited there, and I was shocked…

So! let me tell you about Sihanoukville’s past and present situation!

 

 

 

まずシアヌークビルの主なビーチですが、北から「ビクトリービーチ」「インディペンデンスビーチ」「オーチュティールビーチ」があります。

僕が初めて訪れた2003年は、ビクトリービーチ界隈に安宿が数件あり、またビーチには人もまばらで水質もそこそこ綺麗でした。一番大きく、人気のあるオーチュティールビーチもそこまで人は居なく、まったりと過ごす事が出来ました。

残念ながら、当時はデジカメなんてそこまで普及していなかったので、写真が無いんですよね。

 

First of all, there are few beaches in Sihanoukville, from North, Victory beach, Independence Beach and Ochheuteal Beach.

I visited Sihanoukville in 2003, there were few hostels in Victory Beach area. There were very few people on the beach, and the water was pretty clean at that time. Even on the most popular Ochheuteal Beach, there weren’t that many people and pretty laidback atmosphere.

Unfortunately, Digital Cameras weren’t affordable at that time, so I don’t have pics.

 

 

 

その後、会社員時代の夏休みにも、シアヌークビルには再訪していました。この写真は、ニュージーランド留学に行く前に長旅に出た際、友人と滞在した2008年のビクトリービーチの写真です。

ビーチにはほとんど人は居なく、水質もまずまず。の〜んびり過ごせる「バックパッカーリゾート」として当時は西洋人バックパッカーに人気でした。当時は中国人も居なくて、静かなビーチでした。

 

I re-visited there when I was working in Japan. These pics were Victory beach, taken in 2008, before going to NZ. 

There were very few people on the beach and the water was pretty clear. At that time, there weren’t Chinese people at all and Sihanoukville was popular amongst the European backpackers. 

 

 

 

当時はビクトリービーチにも、海の家的な物が数件立っていてビールを飲みながらマッタリと過ごせました。行商のおばちゃんが、焼きイカや揚げシャコを売りに来て 10匹1〜2ドル （人によって値下げ出来たり出来なかったりw）で購入出来ました！

ちなみに、ビールは今も昔も安いのはカンボジアの良い所です！大体1ドル前後で飲めちゃいます。

 

There were simple restaurants on the Victory beach at that time, and you could fully chillax on sofas. There were ladies selling grilled squids and deep fried squillas, the prices were  between $1 and $2  ish!

FYI, the beers in Cambodia are still rather cheap, it costs around $1.

 

ビクトリービーチから眺められた、美しいサンセット…これもまた、僕がシアヌークビルを好きであった理由の１つだったんですよね！

滞在費も安く、新鮮な海鮮料理が非常に安く食べられるビーチ。当時は本当に素晴らしいビーチでした…（遠い目）

Accommodation was very cheap, you could enjoy fresh seafoods at low price. Sihanoukville was a simply nice beach at that time…

 

 

 

 

 

さて、2017年に僕はカンボジアに駐在していまして、連休にシアヌークビルに訪れる事にしました。

昔のイメージで、ビクトリービーチにあるホテルを予約し（昔の常宿は既に廃業していました…）早速ビーチに訪れてみました。ビーチには立派な中華料理屋がドーンと出来ており、2008年に撮られた写真の様な海の家は跡形も無く消え去り、ビーチもゴミが大量に浮かんでいて泳げる状態ではありませんでした…

上の写真は2017年の旧ビクトリービーチで、この写真を見る限り綺麗だと思われるでしょうが、橋の向こう側のかつて海の家があったエリアは完全に退廃していてゴミが凄かったです。

 

I was working in Cambodia in 2017, and I visited Sihanoukville during a long holiday.

I booked a hotel in Victory beach, (my favorite backpacker was closed already…) and went to the beach. There is a big Chinese restaurant on the beach, and all the local restaurants (the pics taken in 2008) are already gone. To make matters worse, there are tons of rubbish floating on the ocean…

 

皆さんご存知かと思いますが、カンボジアは中国資本の会社の参入により、一気に経済は発展しています。現地カンボジアに在住の中国人は多数おり、その影響でシアヌークビル にはカジノやホテルが乱立している状態です。

もうカンボジアは中国の植民地…と言っても良い程、完全に中国企業に牛耳られています。ラオスも然りの様ですね。

また、暮らしが豊かになった現地カンボジア人にも、シアヌークビルは大人気の観光地となっています。残念ながらカンボジア人はゴミを何処にでも捨ててしまいます。これらの要因によりシアヌークビルの海洋汚染は急速に進んでいます。こちらの記事を参照して頂ければ、現状が分かるかと思います…

 

As you guys might know that Cambodian economy has been booming thanks to Chinese companies. There are tons of Chinese living there, and many casinos and hotels have been built in Sihanoukville.

Cambodia is like a colony of China… What you see is pretty much Chinese stuff. I reckon Laos is pretty much the same.

The life of Cambodians are getting wealthier, and now they can afford to go to Sihanoukville for vacation.  Unfortunately, they throw away rubbish everywhere. Due to these reasons, pollution has been getting worse dramatically. Please refer to this article, and you will see the reality…

 

とはいえ、カジノが好きな方もいらっしゃるでしょうから、一応ホテルのリストを貼っておきますねw僕が実際に泊まったホテルをご紹介しようと思っていたのですが、Hotels.comとAgoda両方から無くなってしまっているんですよね…何故だ？

カンボジア・ケップは蟹天国！ Kep in Cambodia is the Crab Paradise!

 

僕がカンボジアでお勧めできるビーチは ケップ です！過去記事にも書きましたが、正直ビーチ自体はそんなに綺麗では無いんですが、現地のリゾートホテルはプール付きの所が多く、またお値段もリーズナブルな所が多いです。30ドル位で貸切バンガロー＆大きなプールが付いています。

シアヌークビルとは打って変わって、カジノなんて無いですし中国人観光客も少ないので、とても静かな場所です。また、ケップは 蟹 で有名な場所ですので、毎日蟹三昧！といった贅沢な生活も出来ますよw

The beach which I can recommend in Cambodia is  Kep ! As I wrote on my previous post, the beach itself isn’t that beautiful, but many resort hotels have swimming pools and the prices are rather reasonable.

Compare to Sihanoukville, there is no Casino at all and you won’t see Chinese tourists. Kep is a truly peaceful place. Moreover, Kep is famous for  Crabs , so please do enjoy them as much as you want! hahaha.

今回はカンボジアのビーチ、シアヌークビル の過去と現状についてお伝えしました。

カンボジア最大の見所「アンコールワット」観光のついでに、ビーチリゾートを満喫したい方も多いでしょうが、個人的な見解としましては、シアヌークビルは避けて是非ケップでマッタリと過ごすのが良いかな？と思います。

 

・シアヌークビルは、かつてはバックパッカーリゾートでしたが、現在はカジノ乱立＆汚染が酷いです！

・カンボジアでオススメのビーチリゾートはケップ！蟹三昧と、お手頃な価格のリゾートを満喫して下さい！

On this post, I’ve been writing about Sihanoukville’s past and present situation.

I think many people go to Cambodia for its highlight “Angkor Wat”, and looking for some beach resorts too. In my opinion, better avoid Sihanoukville and staying in Kep is a good option.

 

・Sihanoukville used to be a superb backpacker resort but nowadays, there are tons of casinos and pollution is getting worse.

・The best beach in Cambodia is Kep! Please do enjoy the famous crabs and stay in affordable resort hotels!
