サワディーカップ！毎度、タカです。いや〜やっと明日から1年振りのタイです！この日が来るのを待ちわびていました…
今回の訪タイの目的は大きく2つあります。まず第一に、昨年夏に発症したヘルニアの養生&リハビリ。腰椎４番と５番の椎間板にある神経が少し飛び出して、左足の末端の痺れ＆梨状筋に鋭い痛みが発症してしまったんです…
昨年末あたりに、「この会社にこのまま居たら、ヘルニアが悪化して要手術になってしまう…」と言う恐れから、思い切って退職を決意しました！前職場の社労士さんが、今回の退職は特定理由離職者に該当するので、待機期間無しで失業保険が貰える…という、何ともありがたいアドバイスをくれました。ラッキー！
二つ目は、片手間で運営していた当ブログを本格的にやる事。ノマドワーカーと言うやつに憧れていたので、今回は良い機会なので、僕の大好きな沈没地、タイのチェンマイに渡航する事にしました！
チェンマイはタイマッサージや、リトリートのメッカですし、バンコクに比べて滞在費も安いので今回の目的にはぴったりの場所です。

This time, I’ve got 2 major purposes. First of all, I’m eager to cure my slipped disk between lumber No.4 & No5. Since last year, I’ve been suffering from the numbness on my tip of left leg, and a pain on my Piriformis.
I did quit the job at the end of Jan… I thought if I continued to work for the previous company, I would have to take a surgery, and I really wanted to avoid that. A social insurance consultant gave me a good advice, that I can receive an unemployment welfare immediately… Choice!!!
The second purpose is, I would like to focus on writing this blog. It was my dream to work as “Digital Nomad”. Thus, I’m going to stay in Chiang mai for a while! Chiang mai is the mecca for Thai massage and retreat, moreover living cost is cheaper than Bangkok. So, Chiang mai is my ideal place!

さて！海外旅行に行く時、皆さんはスーツケース派？それともバックパック派？
僕が思うに、どちらも一長一短ありますよね。スーツケースはキャスターが付いているので、平地は楽チン。でも、道路が完全に舗装されていない場所が多い発展途上国や、雨季のある東南アジアだと、スーツケースを持ち上げで移動しないとならないですよね…
また、バイクタクシーなんかで移動する時は、スーツケースだと乗車拒否されたり、バランスが悪くて走行中に落下なんてケースもあります。
それに対して、バックパックは背負えるので機動性は抜群！なんですが、やっぱり重い荷物を背負って歩き回るのは結構重労働ですよね…常夏の国にで、重いバックパック背負って歩くのは罰ゲームですw
Hey guys! Do you bring a suitcase or backpack when you go travelling?
In my opinion, both have pros and cons right? Suitcases have casters, so it’s very easy to move around the flat surface. However, if you travel in developing countries, some of the roads are still unpaved. If you travel in South East Asia, there is a rainy season, so you might have to carry up a suitcase…
Moreover, if you want to take a motorbike taxi, you might get shot down to ride it, or it’s difficult to take a balance, so your suitcase might fall down.
As for a backpack, you can carry it on your back, so mobility is excellent! But, if you carry a lot of stuff, it takes its toll on your body… Imagine, you carry a 15kg backpack in a scorchingly hot place, it’s simply hellish!

以前の記事でもご紹介しましたが、僕が長きに渡って愛用していますOSPREY MERIDIAN 75L。このトラベルバッグは2代目で、初代のバッグもなんと10年も使い倒しました！さて、詳しく紹介していきましょうかね。

この様に、ハンドル＆キャスターが付いているので、スーツケースの様にゴロゴロとカバンを引っ張る事が可能。旧モデルと比べると、キャスターが大きくなり安定性が格段にアップしました！ちょっとした段差も、楽に乗り越えてくれます。
This bag has casters and a handle, you can carry it like a suit case. Compare to the previous model, the casters get bigger, so it’s easy to carry even on bumps.
背面を開けるとご覧の通り！バックパックにトランスフォーム。これも旧モデルから改良されて、背面にメッシュが施されて蒸れずらくなっております。腰の部分のパッドも改良されたので、腰が痛くならないんです！この改良は素晴らし過ぎる…
When you open a backside, the bag transforms to a backpack. There was a huge improvement on the backside. It’s way more comfortable, as the mesh material is attached. There is also an improvement on the pad around your hip, so it’s no longer painful. Sweet as!
トラベルバッグの素晴らしい所は、ジッパーに施錠できるところですね。もちろん、機内預けの際にも施錠しますが、宿ではセーフボックス代わりとしても使用しています。
今まで、このジッパーを開けられた…なんて事は一度もありませんし、盗難にあったことが一度もないのはちょっとした自慢ですね。
What’s good about this bag is, you can lock it. I of course lock the bag when I deposit it on an airplane. Moreover, I use it as a safe when I stay in a guesthouse or hotel.
This lock has never been opened, and I’ve never been stolen anything in my travel life.
こちらの脱着可能なサブバッグは、現地で観光に行く時なんかに非常に便利です！こう見えて、結構容量があるので1.5lのペットボトル、上着なんかをいつも入れています。いや〜本当素晴らしい設計ですね！

持っていると意外に役立つ物 / Useful small things
さて、お次は持って行くと役立つ小物なんかをサクッとご紹介しましょう。僕は短期で旅行をする事もありますが、ここ数年は大体1ヶ月程度の旅をする事が多いです。
もともと予定を詰め込んで積極的に観光をするタイプではなく、気に入った場所でまったり過ごすのが好きな「沈没型」旅行者です。今回は特にブログ執筆＆ヘルニアの養生を兼ねているので、ほぼ観光に行くことは無いかと思いますw
Let’s move onto the next one, small useful things. I travel short term like a normal Japanese does, but I prefer to travel bit longer. I wish to travel at least a month.
I prefer to stay in one place longer to get relaxed rather than being busy for sightseeing… This time, I want to focus on my blog, and treat my body. Thus, I won’t go sightseeing. Hahaha.
洗濯セット / Laundry set
1週間程度の旅だったら、日数分の洋服を持って行けば良いんですが、数ヶ月単位の旅行だとそれは無理。東南アジアなんかの暑い国だと、頻繁に着替える事になりますから、洗濯をする事が必須になってきますね。
僕は、昔から小さいペットボトルに洗剤を詰めて持って行っています。これなら漏れる事も無いですし、わざわざ洗剤を買う手間も省けます。現地でも、小さい洗剤の袋が売っていますが、綺麗に破れないので持ち運ぶ際に高確率で漏れちゃうんです。
少量でしたら、洗面台で手洗いで済ませられるし、量が多ければコインランドリーへ！タイは安いホテルにも、洗濯機が併設されていますし、もし無くてもコインランドリーは至る所にあるので直ぐに見つかります。便利ですね！
バルコニーがあるホテルなら良いんですが、無い場合に備えて ロープ なんかを持参すると役に立ちますよ！また、ホテルによってはハンガーが全く無い所が多々あるので、 ハンガー も持参すると意外と重宝します。
今は便利な洗濯ロープも市販されているので、そう言ったものを持参するのもアリですね。長期のキャンプでも使えそう…
If you travel for few days~ a week, it’s not a problem, but when it comes to a long travel, you have to wash your clothes. Especially, when you go to South East Asia, you might need to change your cloth few times a day.
I always put laundry detergent into a small plastic bottle. It doesn’t leak, and you don’t need to buy detergent. For a small amount of laundry, you can wash by hand in a washing basin, for a big amount just go to a laundromat. In Thailand, most of the hotels and hostels have laundry machines, if they don’t, you can find a laundromat pretty easy. Convenient as!
It’s pretty wise to bring a string to hang your laundry down. Sometimes, it’s a bit hard to find a space to hang your laundry. It’s also a good idea to bring some hangers , as many hotels in South East Asia miss them.

さて、最後にスピーカー！僕は音楽が大好きなので、部屋に居る時は常に音楽をかけていたい人なんです。
僕が初めて長旅にでた2003年頃は、まだMP3プレーヤーなんてメジャーでは無かったので、音好きな旅人はCDプレーヤー・多くのCD・スピーカーを持ち歩いていました。今の若い方には想像つかないでしょうが、CDって結構重かったんですよw
しかも、当時のポータブルスピーカーなんて、かなりゴツいのしか無くて、音量を求めるとPC用のまあまあ大きいのを持って旅していました…いや〜今は本当に便利な世の中になりましたよねw
今まで、何台か携帯用スピーカーを購入してきましたが、この写真の物は大変コスパに優れています！大きさは500mlのペットボトルサイズで、なんとソーラーパネルが付いているので、日が当たる所に置いておけば自然に充電されるんです…
大音量で聞いても音割れしないですし、なんと言ってもバッテリーの持ちが素晴らしい…昨年タイとネパールに1カ月づつ旅をしたのですが、その間充電したのはたったの1度だけでした。毎日4〜5時間は使用していましたし、日中出かける時は窓際に置いてソーラーで充電しただけでした。
Last but not least, I would like to introduce this portable speaker! I really do love music, so I want to listen to music all the time.
When I took a first long travel, which was 2003, MP3 player wasn’t popular at all, so most of the tourists carried a CD player, lots of CDs, and rather big speaker. For younger generations, you can’t imagine how heavy CDs are!
At that time, portable speakers were rather big, if you wanted big sound. Man, technology makes travel way easier!
This speaker is the best by far! The size is almost the same like a 500ml plastic bottle, and it has a solar panel on, so it charges the battery automatically under the sun. I brought this speaker when I went to Thailand and Nepal for 2months last year. I listened to music 4~5 hours a day, and when I was out, I put it near the window. I only charged it once during my trip, amazing!
赤いランプが付いているの、分かりますでしょうか？これは充電中を意味しています。天気の良い日なら、窓際に置かなくても室内で十分充電出来てしまいます。
唯一の欠点は、Bluetoothの感度が若干悪い事でスマホとスピーカーがちょっと離れると、音が途切れてしまう事。後は、電池の残量が少なくなると警告音がなるんですが、その音が結構うるさく、また長い時間なり続けるのでちょっと鬱陶しいですw
とはいえ、旅行のみならずキャンプでも大活躍のこのスピーカー、超オススメの一品です！
As you can see, the red lamp is on right? That means the speaker is charging the battery. If the weather is good, it charges even inside a room.
There are few cons about this speaker. Bluetooth isn’t that sensitive, so it’s disconnected if you take a smartphone away from the speaker. The other thing is, when the battery is low, it beeps quite loudly. To make matters worse, it beeps pretty long time!
Anyway, I’m pretty happy about this speaker, highly recommended for travel and camping!
パッキングのコツ / Hint for packing
さて、最後にパッキングのコツでもご紹介しましょう。パッキング苦手な方、結構多いみたいですよね！
これはもう慣れとしか言い様が無いんですが、 自分なりにルールを決めておく のが良いと思います！僕の場合は、ズボン系は使用頻度が少ないのでカバンの底の方、シャツや下着類はカバンの上の方へ…などと、毎回入れる位置を固定しておく事で、パッキングをスムーズに行える様になりました。パッキングなんて、数百回は行なっていますからねw
また、写真の赤い袋はスタッフバッグで、下着や靴下などバラバラになり易いものを入れています。これでカバンの中もスッキリします。登山やる方なら使用していますよね！防水効果もあるので、登山やキャンプでも活躍しますよ！スタッフバッグ、是非活用してみて下さい！
Let me explain how to pack your bag. I know many people aren’t good at packing!
In my opinion, you should set your own rule ! In my case, I put trousers at the bottom, shirts and underwear are on the top of the travel bag… As you set your own rule, you won’t hesitate to pack. I’ve done packing more than few hundreds times.
The red bag on the pic is a stuff bag. It’s highly recommended to use a stuff bag to keep small things! If you are into trekking, you use them aye? Most of them are water-proof, so they do keep your clothes dry too!
